Leeds Bradford Airport Information
Leeds Bradford International Airport is Located near Yeadon on the A658, approximatly 11 miles to the North West of the city of Leeds, and 10 miles from Bradford. The airport was in public ownership until May 2007, when it was sold for £145.5 million. On May 4, 2007 Bridgepoint Capital acquired the airport from Leeds, Bradford, Wakefield, Calderdale and Kirklees councils.
Leeds Bradford Airport has one terminal, one runway and supports
30,000 aircraft movements and more than 2 million passengers a year. The airport currently serves more than 70 domestic and international destinations and is one of the fastest growing airports in the UK.
The new owners have said they are to implement a £70 million capital expenditure plan, to focus on improving passenger and retail infrastructure. Other aims include more than doubling passenger numbers to 7 million per annum and adding up to 20 new scheduled destinations, both by 2015.
Since 2000 the airport has also been home to the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.
